Tag You're It Tuesday!

I've been tagged!!!  One of my best bride blogger buddies, Ms. Jacin of the fabulous blog "She Said Yes", totally called me out to participate in a friendly game of blogger tag.  (Hardly) ever able to turn down a dare/challenge I am up for the task!  To keep this game moving my job is seemingly simple, per her instructions: once you've been tagged, you answer 8 questions from your "tagger." then, you write your own 8 questions and tag 8 new people!

Without further ado... my answers to her questions:

1. if one song were to describe your life, what song would it be?
This is super hard for me... and I think I'm going to have to twist this one around a little bit... not sure what describes my life, but a song that might describe ME is Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix. I love the honest & powerfulness of the song as chose this because I am a very passionate and expressive person with a wide variety of interests.
2. if you could be another person for a day, who would you be?
I don't think there is any specific person I would want to be, I would like to be able to see the world through a completely different perspective.  As a reminder to always practice compassion, I think I would spend the day in the life of someone with any kind of severe handicap, special need, or impoverished circumstance.  Nothing glamorous about it but I think it would help make me a better person. (not that I'm claiming to be a bad person now, but always looking to improve :) )
3. what has been your favorite aspect of wedding planning?
I am tempted to say blogging... but truly it is feeling all of the love and support from all of our friends and family (and making new friends during the planning process) - it is a constant reminder of how lucky we are and I am thankful everyday.  And, of course, knowing that the wonderful end result of all of it will be that I am married to the most amazing person in the entire world. :)
4. if you had one wish, what would it be?
To have a gift/ability/superpower to heal people...  and I'd wish for a bit more patience... and a lifetime supply of dark chocolate.
5. what is your favorite movie?
Love Actually or The Holiday (quite possibly followed up by The Little Mermaid)
6. what is your guilty pleasure? (not thinking in the gutter here, girls.  mine is andy capps hot fries, haha) Starbucks - not because what I get is bad for me (venti bold splash of nf milk 1 spenda) but because of how much money I spend there!
7. if the whole world were listening, what would you say?
Hiiiii!!!  and remember that when it all comes down to it we are all the same - just people - and cliche but always Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
8. what's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
Can I have a pass on this one?  No?  Ok, then my attempt at this is probably advice regarding making sure you constantly push your limits and set new goals but not at the expense of your health/mental well being and relationships (take a mental health day every now and then)

Phew! Ok...  as if that wasn't hard enough now I have to write my own 8 and tag 8 more of you to keep the game going!

The Questions:
1) If you had to give up ice cream or chocolate which would it be?
2) Nightowl or Early Bird?
3) If you got 1 re-do in life what would it be?
4) What is your favorite Dave Matthews Band song?
5) If you could choose 1 over the top crazy thing to include in your wedding what would it be/have been?
6) What is your favorite quirky trait about your partner?
7) Finish this sentence... I can never seem to leave a drugstore without buying...
8) What is the 1 thing on your to-do list that you always put off/never get around to doing?

And my lucky recipiants of the TAG!

Ms Lucinda Wesson & Ms Sarah True
Claire at A Realistic Wedding
Anna the photo genius Sawin
Natasha over at Breathing & Butter
My Bachelorette Buddy Alicia from The Charity Wedding
and I would totally make Marissa & Meredith do this if they had blogs... maybe on FB?

(no pressure ladies - just for fun if you like :) )

Topping it Off

Happy Monday!  As I continue to check things off the to-do list in preparation for the big day I realized I had to start giving some more thought to our cake design.  My preferences on this are pretty plain & simple (basic off-white buttercream, no flowers) so finding the right cake topper will be very important!  A few favorites I've been collecting from around the web...

Could not get over this adorable ones from forgetmeknotweddings

especially when I then saw it again (customized) on SMP

This one from Ruffled Blog especially speaks to my heart as Dan & I have 2 cats! I love the idea of giving them a little nod at the wedding.

Or maybe some kind of a little sign like this one (also from Ruffled)

and some more love birds over at Love and Lavender

But sometimes I wonder if we should do something a little more chic and add a little ode to our beloved Eiffel Tower...

(but perhaps a bit more shimmery than bling-y if you know what I mean?)  topperswithglitz

What do you think?  What are the favorite cake toppers you have seen?

Linen Satchels & A Little Something Sweet!

I love the idea of having a little pouch or satchel holding some kind of a treat for my guests.  It adds such a charming decorative touch, and in addition to being pretty also gives people just a touch of intrigue, somewhat akin the excitement one feels just before opening a gift. I love this idea so much and was so excited to see it featured on one of the loveliest blogs I know; the EAB Designs blog.   Always thoughtfully stylish and french inspired, Julie features this little treat bag as a DIY*  project and I just had to share it with you!

From Julie:

"For each bag, I cut two pieces of linen, 9" high by 4" wide.  Right sides together, using a 1/4" seam allowance, sew the bottom and sides, leaving the top open. Turn inside out, press and trim the top with scalloped scissors.  The French postcard graphics were printed on inkjet cotton paper, cut out with scalloped scissors and applied with Fabri-tac adhesive. "

Julie suggests whipping up a batch of her favorite Fleur de Sel Caramels (yum!) to fill these pretty little satchels, but for those who are overly not culinarily (yes I think I just made up a word) inclined  I might also suggest visiting The Caramel Jar's etsy store and having Nicole whip you up a delicious batch!

My mouth is watering now... and I bet your guests' will be too!

*note, this is a DIY for some people... others of us might just have to convo Julie through her etsy store and see if she would make some for us!  ;)

Introducing Just Married News!

Ok, so I'm about to get a little Katherine Heigl (a la 27 Dresses) on you here; but I must say that I do LOVE a good wedding announcement (and have even been known to tear up when reading one, as those of you who know me can imagine).  There is just something so dreamy and romantic seeing a wedding immortalized in a professionally written announcement.  Alas, this kind of thing is often only available to those "high profile" couples, or people who are able to shell out a lot of cash (hello!  I'd rather put that money back into the wedding budget - or towards the honeymoon!)... until now.  Now there is an option for the rest of us; Just Married News!

What girl wouldn't love to have a professionally written wedding announcement to share all of the blissful (and painstakingly crafted) details of her big day?!  The first wedding announcement website on the internet, Just Married News offers the perfect opportunity to share the details of your day with friends and family near and far.  Distance or circumstance keeping loved ones from being able to come celebrate with you? The staff of Just Married News will create a beautifully written wedding announcement including descriptions of the your gown, attendants' dresses, wedding cake, music, flowers, theme, and honeymoon plans all accompanied by your favorite photograph of the special event.  For all of you eco-friendly brides this also offers an environmentally friendly option from the paper announcement since it is all online!

Dan and I will definitely be using Just Married News to announce our big day… and of course I will share it with all of you!  For more details visit their website at www.justmarriednews.com or email stacy@justmarriednews.com

Paper Love: Ceremony Programs

We are in the homestretch on our invitation design, so paper is still top of mind for me... but now my paper thoughts are beginning to wander into other details... like ceremony programs.  I am happy to say that Dan & I have already planned our ceremony readings, and are meeting with our priest Monday to finalize details (this is the one thing I feel as though I might almost be ahead on right now!) so next up will be designing our programs.  A few fun inspirations...

Printed paper bags with flower petal toss inside - LOVE!

Pretty paper in a stamped muslin bag...

Both of the above from elizabeth anne designs

For all of you crafty brides... a few DIY programs from Martha...

 The ribbon bound program...

The tag program (love this!)...

The simple rustic elegance of beautiful mixed fonts mounted on craft paper...

And look - these little pretties come with mini banner flags to wave at the newlyweds as they make their way back down the aisle- how fantastic is that?

The Vineyard Touch

Seeing as how I'm getting married at a vineyard, I can't not incorporate a bit of a wine country inspired rusticness.  I constantely find myself seeking out ways to add just a pinch of the vineyard touch to our decor. Yes, the cork place card holders are adorable, and I do love wine bottles as table numbers as well, but for my big day I need to up the rustic chic factor of those elements.  Keeping a continual eye out for different little touches to use, these are some of my favorites thus far...

Wine Bottle Lanterns...

how great would this be as a "lantern" on a end table (tree stump?) in our lounge area  - and look you can personalize them!  Word Couture shop on etsy

Bottles of wine in a crate (of hay??) as favors...

mypersonalartist  (if only our budget allowed this ha!)

Some sort of take on the classic cork wreath; maybe a pretty red wine stained cord trivet on the appetizer station tables...

And, perhaps my favorite, a custom designed wine bottle label by Chocolate Creative Design

Which would you choose?  All of them perhaps?

Wedding Signs

I know we see them everyday (in real life and on nearly  every wedding blog out there) but I still can't get enough of them;  signs!  Nearly every wedding has some sort of a sign, whether it is for posting directions, a menu, seating charts, props in a photobooth, a welcome sign, or just for decoration.  Signs are a cute way to give direction but also display some wedding style personality.

Signs I

CapClassique  (this may be one of my favorites, the 2 distances below the couple's wedding marker signify how far to each of their hometowns, one up north and one down south, and thus how far family & friends traveled to the wedding)

And I couldn't help but include all of these glorious signs from StyleMePretty yesterday - how perfect is this setting?!
