Moss & Wire Heart

To be completely honest, I am not sure what this quirky accent piece is but I LOVE it!

P.S. I cannot believe the idea of a wine bottle opener never occurred to me and I am having a vineyard reception!

A Lovely Pick Up

A lace tablecloth draped in the flatbed of a vintage pick up truck... does it get any more rustic chic than this?

And I love the babys breath bouquet!  I know this has been all over the place but I simply couldn't help myself.  From forgetmeknot

Cheese Party

Ok, so I'm REALLY trying to get away from just re-blogging things from SMP (it's just so hard - they have so many GORGEOUS posts)  but this one just hit home with me.  It's not a wedding, but I think that the design would make for an amazing intimate or cocktail/appetizer wedding OR perhaps an engagement party?  A cheese lovers dream, looking at it (for me) conjures up a private party being held at a bistro in some suburban village just on the outskirts of Paris.  Love, Love, Love!

*please note the cast iron chiminea in the right-hand corner... LOVE it!

Really, for me, this party is just to die for - perfection!

Stumps & Lace: Perfect for a Rustic Chic Wedding

What do you get when you mix a large tree stump and some pretty lacy runners....

So so pretty, and so so DIYable!

Sunday Bouquet

Style Me Pretty came up last night at Marissa's shower yesterday and one of her bridesmaids mentioned that she had a cousin who's Connecticut wedding at the Harkness had been featured.  I looked it up this morning - pure gorgeousness - I especially LOVE her flowers!

Now Dan & I are off to a 5 hour pre-cana session... will be sure to update on how all of that goes!!

Coolest Couple Ever

(yes pun intended) but seriously they really must be... look at this amazing antique bathtub/trough-like container used as a cooler... need I say more?!

the rest of the rustic barn wedding looks pretty awesome as well...

Real Weddings at Saltwater Farm Vineyard

I admit it... I'm a crazy SWF Vineyard wedding stalker.  I love to search for images of other weddings there to see how other couples have transformed the space.  It's just so unique and beautiful - can't wait for our big day there!

A few from tonight's online search...

and look at this awesome terra cotta pot of lavender too!

GORGEOUS!!!  Photos via creativeimagecollections  and if the couple who's wedding this is sees this on here I hope you don't mind that I posted it. (if you do please email and I'll take it down)  You had a beautiful wedding - congratulations!!!

Oh What Fun!

A sweet rustic cupcake tree - does it get any better than this?!  Too adorable.

Brightly Colored Bridal Shower

Bridal Showers!  I have 4 of them (including my own) coming up this summer and I cannot wait!  I know many people often dread the thought... sitting and watching the bride open box after box of dishtowels, place settings, pots, pans, knives, small appliances but now being a bride myself I have a new appreciation for the shower.  Because I know know what it means for the bride, and that while she may get tired of smiling and exclaiming "Oh - yay!  another salad bowl - I just love this bowl, don't you?  It will be perfect for when I host my next dinner party" I know she really does mean it and truly wants the items she registered for (at least I hope you all do because I know I really do want everything I registered for!)

Shower Designs
This is the really fun part!  Your bridal shower should be a fun relaxed and happy event.  Many times it is hosted at the MOB's home, or the home of a close relative, other times it is an outdoor event, garden party style, or at a restaurant, or a country club.  Sometimes it is themed; either to match the wedding inspiration or in a totally different way; Around the Clock Showers, Jack & Jill Showers, Cooking/Baking focused showers... you get the idea.

I love the idea of a bright flowery bridal shower and this board from 100layercake is, to me, the perfect embodiment of that.  And how cute is the idea of the golden children s building blocks?!

that color palette, along with maybe some little accents like these tags found on eatdrinkchic

along with a cute little banner... my favorite is this DIY from RuffledBlog

and I'm just dying to try these caramel & sea salted brownies, so we'll throw those in for dessert - YUM!

and perhaps not for a floral shower but how adorable are these cupcake toppers from Smitten

Paper Love: Marissa's Invitations

So let me preface this post with a warning that my horrible, amateur photos taken with a 3 year old digital camera which is fine for capturing impromptu group shots at picnics, restaurants, or other informal functions did NOT do these invitations justice.  The soft creamy colors and contrasting fonts are in no way well served here;  nor is the fabulous linen texture (note to Lucinda, I love the texture!).
Ok, disclaimer over, on to the good stuff.  Yesterday I happily received in the mail the invitation to one of my (oldest and best) friends wedding.  Marissa (who is also a b'maid in my wedding, as am I in hers) is getting married this upcoming labor day weekend in Stony Creek - a charming little seaside corner of Branford, CT with a reception to follow at Amarantes Sea Cliff in New Haven.   Her invitations are such a beautiful palette and a simple sweet sophistication with a slightly modern twist. LOVE them!  I simply cannot wait for this day.

...yes, it is clipped to my kitchen curtain with clothes pins...

Aren't they just lovely???!

p.s. Her wedding shower this this weekend - sure to have a follow up with a post on that if she'll allow me!

A Party Tank

Simply adore these fun sparkly tanks from J. Crew;  you can do so much with them - layer, dress up, dress down... I may just have to invest in one to wear to one of my girls' bachelorette parties this summer!  The question is;  which color?!

SO much great style

Santa Barbara Wedding blog...  WOW!  First, I love that there is a blog dedicated to weddings in that region... do we have one of those for the CT shoreline?  Hmmmmm....  But more importantly, I LOVE that there is such great style in each and every one of the featured posts...
Just look at this couple:

Love her dress... but even more so love that they used UMBRELLAS to decorate the ceiling of their tent - umbrella's!  It's brilliant!

and I love their bouquets...

and not from the above wedding, but also from the blog - what fantastic furniture rental options!

Really... if I were a California wedding girl I would be stalking this blog daily...   santa barbara wedding style

Invitations: Soft and Chic

It is time to work on our invitations, which means that Lucinda (Chocolate Creative Design - see our fab save the dates she designed here, here, and here) has again requested that I send her "everything that inspires me" so I've set off on a mission to scour the internet for invitation inspiration - what fun!  My first stop was style me pretty where I used the style circle inspiration board builder tool to build a board which I titled "Soft and Chic".  So many beautiful invitations to look at this was not an easy task...

Invitations: Soft and Chic

And while I was building that board I kept running across so many adorable farm inspired paper goods that I just had to build a little board of those too...

Invitations: Farm Fresh

more to come on the paper front soon...

Sunday Bouquet

This one takes the cake for the most variety of flowers and greens in a bouquet that I have seen that actually work well mixed together.  Aomething about it strikes me as a rustic/farm fresh vibe but with a slight edge - loooove it!

And a big Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there (especially mine!) xo

1 Year Ago Today...

...was the first of what I imagine will be many "best days" of our lives.  On June 18th 2009 Dan proposed to me right in front of the Eiffel Tower while it was all lit up and twinkling under a clear night's sky.  It really was an absolute dream come true, and while I knew it was coming I was suprised - I didn't think Dan had it in him to carry a ring overseas, and then wait for the perfect night (more than halfway through our trip) to actually propose.  But as he often does, he surprised me, saying that he knew this kind of opportunity was one in a million and he "had to" take advantage of it.   And am I ever happy that he did.  So from there our wedding planning journey began -  literally - I think I purchased about 10 bridal magazines for the flight home... and the rest is history... in the making!

None of my photos are as sweet as this, but I thought I'd share a  few of my amateur shots from that night...

*wish I had a picture of us enjoying a bottle of champagne at an adorable little cafe afterward but I cannot seem to find that one... darn...

This is obviously not taken right in front of the tower (it's actually the view from the street in front of our apartment) but it gives you an idea of the twinkle effect.

Squinting into the sun at the top of the Arc de Triomphe earlier in the day (little did I know what awaited me!)

Happy Engaged Anniversary Dan... I love you so so much!

Too Funny

... and so true!  I am not one of those people who naturally looks for a healthy outlet to release stress like some form of exercise, instead I tend to reach for the munchiest (yes, I just made up a word) thing in front of me!  NOT GOOD for pre-wedding diet!!

But this was still too cute not to share as you see the "keep calm and carry on" mantra practically every which way you turn.

Cafe Garden Luncheon

I know everyone probably saw this over at Snippet&Ink yesterday but it was just too fantastic for me not to re-blog some of the images.  This outdoor chic garden party reception is such an amazing design blend;  from the marble top tables, to the plush fabrics of the cushions & table linens, the colored metal chairs, the wax seals on the escort cards - and not to mention the food!  The cheeses!  The heirloom tomato salad!  I am simply in heaven looking at this...

Just so beautiful... wish I had been invited!

Burlap in the Home

Just watch as the wedding inspiration grows into my home inspiration... walking around our house I can see it happening already.  How perfectly chic are these burlap headboards, pillows, and ottomans?!    And I'm pretty sure we already have that paint color leftover from our master bathroom paint job; would love to recreate this look in one of the guest-bedrooms in our home.

mmmm... and how great is this burlap table skirt!  Here used at an accent table for a garden party event;  I could totally see this concept used as a wrap around skirt on a vanity table in a bedroom.
