1 Year Ago Today...

...was the first of what I imagine will be many "best days" of our lives.  On June 18th 2009 Dan proposed to me right in front of the Eiffel Tower while it was all lit up and twinkling under a clear night's sky.  It really was an absolute dream come true, and while I knew it was coming I was suprised - I didn't think Dan had it in him to carry a ring overseas, and then wait for the perfect night (more than halfway through our trip) to actually propose.  But as he often does, he surprised me, saying that he knew this kind of opportunity was one in a million and he "had to" take advantage of it.   And am I ever happy that he did.  So from there our wedding planning journey began -  literally - I think I purchased about 10 bridal magazines for the flight home... and the rest is history... in the making!

None of my photos are as sweet as this, but I thought I'd share a  few of my amateur shots from that night...

*wish I had a picture of us enjoying a bottle of champagne at an adorable little cafe afterward but I cannot seem to find that one... darn...

This is obviously not taken right in front of the tower (it's actually the view from the street in front of our apartment) but it gives you an idea of the twinkle effect.

Squinting into the sun at the top of the Arc de Triomphe earlier in the day (little did I know what awaited me!)

Happy Engaged Anniversary Dan... I love you so so much!
